A police officer was slightly injured in a raid in connection with the so-called Reichsbürgermilieu on behalf of the federal prosecutor’s office. The condition of the officer of a special task force is stable, according to data from the dpa. An unsuspected person fired a shot in Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, on Wednesday, a spokesman for the authority in Karlsruhe said. The house search was related to the group of suspected Reich citizens discovered on December 7 who were alleged to have planned a coup d’état.
The man who would have shot has been arrested for the time being, the spokesman said. Circumstances would now be clarified. According to information from the dpa, the man is a sport shooter and had a license to own guns. He entrenched himself when the special forces arrived and defended himself with a firearm.
A reporter from the German news agency on site in Reutlingen reported that there were five loud bangs in a house in the morning. A police spokesperson at the scene confirmed a connection to the investigation, but did not provide details. According to information from the dpa, the police blew up a locked door.
As the federal prosecutor announced when asked by Blick, searches began Wednesday morning at more than 20 properties in eight states and Switzerland. They were directed at five other suspects suspected of supporting a terrorist organization. It involved about five people from Munich, the Hanover region, Chemnitz and Switzerland. The raid in Switzerland took place in the canton of St. Gallen, the federal prosecutor explained to Blick. The judiciary focused on two Swiss living in the canton of St. Gallen. Proceedings were opened against the two St. Galls.
The magazine, citing security sources, wrote that some of the suspects were believed to be carrying weapons. ARD reports that some of them are police officers or soldiers. Some of them should have formed other anti-state groups.
In December, the police and the federal prosecutor’s office deployed several thousand troops against a suspicious network of Reich citizens. They would have planned a violent coup. 25 people were arrested and are in custody.
Among them is the businessman Heinrich XIII from Frankfurt. Prince Reuss, the presumed head of the network, as well as former AfD member of the Bundestag and judge Birgit Malsack-Winkemann, who has been provisionally suspended. (jmh/AFP/SDA)
