The United States wants to openly release secret service information about the origins of Covid in the future

US President Joe Biden has signed a law releasing intelligence about the origin of the coronavirus. He shares Congress’s goal of releasing as much information as possible about the origin of the virus, Biden said Monday. The aim is to better prevent future pandemics. However, when published, no information is released that could endanger national security.

Congress had passed a similar law about a week and a half ago. There is reason to believe that the corona pandemic originated in a lab in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, the text said. That is why the US intelligence coordinator must release and make public “as much information as possible” about the origin of the virus. However, it initially remained unclear what information the government would release and when.

According to the latest information from the White House, the US government does not yet have a clear picture of the origin of the virus. Some U.S. agencies, including the FBI, continue to believe the virus was likely transmitted naturally, while others remain undecided or assume lab error. (sda/dpa)
