French President Emmanuel Macron’s popular rating is suffering because of his plan pension reform and fell to minimums not seen since the “yellow vest” marches in early 2019. That rejection of his measure was translated this weekend into numerous demonstrations in several cities in the country, with Paris at the head, which resulted 122 detainees.
Ifop poll for Le Journal du Dimanche points out that only 28% of the French approve of Macron’s policies, four points less than last month. The country’s prime minister, Elisabeth Borne, another face of pension reform, maintains her approval rating at the lowest level seen last month, at just 29 percent.
Borne is playing the position in the no-confidence vote that will take place this Monday in Parliament. If he succeeds, the reform will be reversed and Borne will then have to leave office.
