They are placing condom dispensers in Colombian schools

Five schools in Bogotá, Colombia already have condom machines. Program, from District Secretariat for Healthaims to prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections in adolescents.

It is expected that they will reach the measure of sexual education more schools from the capital of Colombia.

Through this mechanism, the authorities require that adolescents have access to methods that promote healthy sexuality.

“Condoms will be obtained through a mechanism activated by the use of tokens, which will be delivered through recreational-pedagogical actions carried out by the health teams developing the strategy,” said Manuel González, Undersecretary of Health.

Recreational and educational activities are aimed, among other things, at raising awareness among adolescents about the correct and consistent use of condoms.

The machines for condoms will have a maximum capacity of 30 units and will be located inside the premises of the educational institution.

The Ministry of Health assures that the taprooms will be permanently supplied.

“We hope that this strategy contributes to the prevention of unwanted pregnancies and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), but especially that it contributes to full exercise and healthy sexuality,” added González.

The city is already counted with 195 dispensers, especially in areas where there is a large influx of the public, mostly next to night clubs.

“These are free condom dispensers to add to the ones we’re already working on city ​​in high traffic areasin areas where a very vulnerable population is concentrated,” the official added.
