So rich are the climate stickers of the “last generation”

class=”sc-3778e872-0 gWjAEa”>

Whether they stick themselves in the street or smear famous works of art: Germany’s “last generation” climate activists cause a stir time and time again.

In the past, the media also covered the finances of the movement. New details about the money flows of the “last generation” have now been published in the “Welt am Sonntag”. What was already known: The climate stickers get a wage for protesting – up to 1300 euros.

Now it turns out: the “last generation” is just swimming in money. Internal chat logs say that donations are literally “pelted”.

250,000 euros for rental costs

According to its own transparency report, the group received 900,000 euros in donations last year. Of this, 535,519 euros was spent. For example, for the costs of renting apartments where the activists live. This item is worth 250,000 euros. The material compensation amounts to 100,000 euros.

The “Last Generation” reimburses its activists for travel expenses, banners, high visibility vests and stickers. In addition, there is 18,000 euros for legal and training costs. Sticking actions, sit-ins and other forms of civil resistance are practiced during the protest training. After all the costs, the “last generation” left almost 400,000 euros.

To properly manage all the money, a non-profit joint stock company was established. In this way, the climate defenders can issue donation vouchers. Gifts to the “last generation” are therefore tax deductible. The non-profit company named “Climate and Environmental Education for the Preservation of Life-Saving Ecosystems GmbH” is based in the northern German city of Hamburg.

Roadblock costs about 700 euros

The World report also shows what the action group’s paste actions cost. “A roadblock costs about 716 euros,” said the group’s finance officer Caris Connell, 34, in an internal online meeting. Blocking the Berliner Ring once costs 12,000 euros. The Berliner Ring refers to Autobahn 10, which runs around the German capital.

The Munich police charged the climate stickers 250 euros if they had to be removed from the street. It is unclear whether these costs are included in the 716 euros. (nad)
