The Feminist International will leave the meeting in Mexico

cease.– Leaders and activists from around the world will meet at the end of March in Mexico to create Feminist Internationalspace for the coordination of groups fighting in favor of the sector’s agenda, commented Ecuadorian legislator Gissela Garzón.

It is about the “Founding Meeting of the Feminist International” in which it is planned to design “a road map that enables the articulation of the discussion on proposals” that the sector has in each of the countries, but also around the world, added Garzón.

According to the invitation signed by about fifty women from various countries, the meeting will take place in the Mexican capital between March 30 and April 1.

The event will also take place at a crucial time when the world is suffering “strong economic, political, social, health and environmental crises, in which the most affected and impoverished were women“, emphasizes the invitation.

Garzón did not hesitate to claim this the initiative is also an ideological proposalbecause “personal is political” and discussions should be focused on finding solutions.

Already the creation of the Feminist International had the support of fifty female presenters from almost thirty countries in America, Europe and Asiaalthough the goal is for more organizations to eventually join the global coordination, Garzón added.

Among those who call for the creation of the Feminist International are representatives of American countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Also, European Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece and Italy; as well as Asian India, Bangladesh and Palestineamong others.

One of the principles surrounding the initiative is that feminist groups “must be together, consolidate and support each other” through a “permanent agenda” of initiatives on axes of activism in the sector such as fights against inequality, full access to work, education and healthcarethe Ecuadorian lawmaker added.

Also in formulating proposals on gender violenceinclusion in areas of great importance such as “debates on ‘yes is yes’, ‘no is no’, abortion or femicide”, he added.

According to Garzón, Feminist International It will enable “gathering of experiences”, guide discussions and contribute to discussions led by women’s groups at local, national, regional and global levels.

The Ecuadorian admitted it feminism is an “absolutely heterogeneous” movement which seeks points of unity, but which has also strengthened its space within the framework of social struggles.

And that’s it for Garzon, the political right, especially neoliberal, left out and hit the majority of women.

For this reason, in the invitation to the meeting in Mexico, the women’s movement clarified: “We believe in feminism as a cross-border political project which supports equal rights and opportunities for all people”.
