Putin could use Gazprom’s army for a civil war

class=”sc-97fd9fa8-0 jNFKxv”>

The Russian energy giant Gazprom should remedy the invasion of the Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin (70). And with a volunteer army. This report from the American think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW) recently caused quite a stir.

The reason: according to “ISW”, which also relies on the Ukrainian secret services, the army of the state energy company is intended to reduce the influence of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s (61) Wagner group. As the “Bild” writes, there could be much more behind the creation of the new army. Putin must therefore not only want to play off the two private armies against each other, but also not shy away from using them in a possible civil war.

Putin prepares for Russia’s defeat

Contrary to previous knowledge that the Gazprom mercenaries would be deployed in the near future, some of them are already at the front, according to a Russian propagandist. They are being used in Donetsk in places where the murderous Wagner soldiers are not allowed to fight, regime-loyal military blogger “Woenkor Kotenok Z” said on Telegram.

According to the Russian military blogger, there are “many disturbing questions”. It is quite possible that unhealthy competition arises between the groups. It is also unclear whether the new army will also complain about a lack of ammunition.

The Ukraine expert Sergei Sumlenny even goes one step further. As he explains in an interview with the newspaper, it is quite conceivable that the private armies of Gazprom and Wagner will have to serve for a Russian civil war or even an oligarchic war. “Russian elites are preparing for the worst: a military defeat for Russia and the end of Putin’s regime,” Sumlenny told Bild.

Right interests of the elite lie “in the distant future”

To secure their privileges even after the collapse of the regime, the elite found such armies.

Sumlenny is sure: Putin and his entourage justify the creation of their volunteer armies with the war in Ukraine. However, if you take a closer look, it soon becomes clear that “the right interests of Gazprom and the others lie in the more distant future”. (dzc)
