He stormed into the community center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hamburg, Germany, causing a massacre. Philipp F.* († 35) ran amok on Thursday evening and shot around. The ex-member of the cult pulled out a gun and repeatedly pulled the trigger. There were seven fatalities, including an unborn baby just seven months old. The murder weapon is a P30 pistol from the German manufacturer Heckler & Koch. Philipp F. had 20 magazines in his shoulder bag. Each individual magazine held 15 rounds and he carried hundreds of rounds in all. He had emptied nine magazines and then had over 100 rounds left.

F. owned his weapon legally, it was registered. The sports shooter applied for the gun owner’s permit in December 2022 and had it since December 12. So it wasn’t long before F. used the gun to kill.

The fact that the police arrived so quickly apparently prevented worse things. The first emergency services arrived just four minutes after the first emergency call. “We can assume that they have saved many lives,” said Hamburg Senator of the Interior Andy Grote (54) on Friday.

You can buy the used P30 for around 1,000 francs. The shooter can shoot up to 50 meters with it. The pistol is used by the Cantonal Police of Zurich, Solothurn, Aargau, Thurgau, Basel-Land and Appenzell Innerrhoden, as well as the German Federal Police. And it has also been used in Hollywood: for example in the famous “John Wick” films with Keanu Reeves (58).
