In recent weeks, the health of former Russian Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov has continued to deteriorate. He reportedly had to have his feet and parts of his hands amputated due to persistent pneumonia. Parts of the body died from lack of blood. Recently Kostomarov was in an artificial coma and is said to have awakened from it. This is reported by the Tass news agency.

A source said: “He is already able to move a little. It will take some time for him to regain full consciousness. However, there is a positive trend in his condition.” The former skater must also start breathing independently again.

Kostomarov reportedly had multiple cerebral hemorrhages, brain swelling, meningitis and two strokes. There are different reports about the cause of pneumonia. Kostomarov’s father told the Russian medium ‘sports.ru’ that his son had contracted the corona virus. Other reports from Russia speak of treating doctors, according to whom flu is the cause.

However, according to “woman.ru”, Kostomarow is said to be confused about his situation due to his now partially gained consciousness. That is probably why a psychologist was called to work with him.
