Cara Delevingne is known for her runway performances, her cheerful demeanor, and possibly her full eyebrows. Last September, however, the 30-year-old made headlines not because of a catwalk or a new movie, but because videos showing her after her visit to the “Burning Man” festival went viral.

In these photos and videos, Delevingne doesn’t look sane – she looks confused and upset. As a result, rumors about her health began to spread, with fans wondering if the model was a drug user and needed help.

She now says this in an extensive interview with the lifestyle magazine “Vogue”. Of the videos and photos they show at the airport, she says, “I didn’t sleep, I didn’t feel well.” The pictures filled her with shame and embarrassed her greatly. The photos were the much-needed wake-up call to finally put the substance and alcohol behind.

She continues: “It breaks my heart because at the time I thought I was having fun. In that sense, I’m grateful for the photos, they were a reality check.”

Delevingne says in the interview that she has already experienced several interventions through her use. However, she was not ready for admission. According to the model, you don’t actually do it until you’re lying face down and ready to get up.

She finally enrolled in rehab late last year and committed to a 12-step program to kick her addiction. “The opposite of addiction is community, I learned that in this program,” says Delevingne now. Before that, she always tried to find a quick solution to a deeper problem instead of tackling the core.

The model now wants to take it easy for the time being and subordinate her job to her mental well-being. For her future, she wants to become a mother someday.
