Lower Austria controls social assistance for Ukrainians

class=”sc-97fd9fa8-0 jNFKxv”>

This was announced by the competent asylum council member Gottfried Waldhäusl on Saturday. According to the announcement, about 12,000 Ukrainians are registered in Lower Austria, of whom about 10,350 people received basic care from the state. This covers the basic needs of everyday life in Austria.

“Every day I receive complaints from the population about luxury cars of displaced Ukrainians who receive basic services from us,” said the politician of the right-wing populist FPÖ. “I also don’t understand why we should support someone who takes their children to kindergarten in a 70,000 euro SUV.”

According to the announcement, the accommodation providers are involved in the inspection. “If it is determined that no help is needed, basic services will be stopped,” it sounds.

“I do not see that the assets of the Lower Austrians are counted for social assistance, while the foreign assets of the expelled are not used to determine the need for aid,” said Waldhäusl.
