While the death toll from the train crash in Greece has already risen to 57, railway workers’ unions have announced a 24-hour strike for this Thursday over the deteriorating sector and criticizing the fact that the only employee detained was a state-owned railway company.

Fifty-seven people are still hospitalized, six of them in intensive care. Most of the victims were young students returning to Thessaloniki after a festive extended weekend.
