“Part of the war”: Wagenknecht outraged by verdict on rapes Does Russia want to take over Belarus? This is how Lukashenko reacts

The German left-wing politician Sarah Wagenknecht repeatedly polarizes with statements about the war in Ukraine. In “Hart but fair” she has now started a new controversy.
An article from

Left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht caused a stir with statements about the rape of Ukrainian women by Russian soldiers. Thousands of comments were received on social networks on Tuesday.

The ARD program “Hart aber fair” depicted the fate of a raped Ukrainian woman on Monday evening. Wagenknecht then, in a war of words with Green politician Katrin Göring-Eckardt, said such attacks were “terrible and abominable” and added: “It’s part of the war, and it’s not just the case in this war. Wars are always associated with war crimes.” Goering-Eckardt strongly disagreed.

Wagenknecht continued: “The UN Human Rights Commissioner has repeatedly pointed out, also in this war: war crimes are committed by both sides, and if you want to end them, if you want to end them, then you have to end this war. Moderator Louis Klamroth responded, “Mrs. Wagenknecht, I can’t leave that on this show.” Klamroth told the United Nations that there was no evidence of rape by Ukrainian soldiers and that rape was part of Russia’s war strategy.

Wagenknecht then said: “That is not true.” The UN has clearly stated that war crimes occur in every war. Klamroth responded by pointing out that it was rape. Wagenknecht led rapes in Donbass by the Ukrainian Azov battalion. The battle of words ended in a draw, but Wagenknecht said at the end, “I think it’s just an insinuation to say it’s none of our business. I just think it’s impudent to accuse us of such a thing.”
