Mobilized people complain about separatists in Donetsk

Almost half a year ago, Vladimir Putin (70) announced the mobilization in Russia. Many men were forced to leave their homes. Others could not or would not go. Some of them have now landed in Ukraine. The time during the war is anything but roses for the mobilized. In recent months, they have complained about poor equipment or appalling conditions in cell phone videos.

Now another video has surfaced of mobilized people from the city of Irkutsk. The Telegram channel «Ljudi Bajkala» published it this weekend. The soldiers in the video criticize the way their command treats them and ask Putin of all people for help.

Without help «to the slaughter»

“We ask you to comply with the lawless and criminal orders of the command,” a man reads from a piece of paper. His face and those of his comrades are hidden behind a balaclava.

The unit was sent to the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in late December. According to the mobilized men, the separatists wanted to send them directly to the front after just one day.

The new attackers would then have received orders to storm the Avdiivka region. Without any support from artillery or other troops, they would have been sent “to the slaughter”, the Russian laments in the video.

“The commanders tell us directly that we are expendable. The only chance to come home is an injury,” he says. The separatist soldiers of Donetsk are also said to be firing machine guns at the Russians for refusing to go to the assault units.

There is no point in appealing to the local authorities because they are in cahoots with the separatist soldiers, the man in the video says.

“We are in a hopeless situation. The commanders don’t care about our lives. None of them are in the front line and they have no idea what the real situation is on the ground. Because of this, our unit suffers great losses every day.”

Separatists only save their own people

In addition to the video, the soldiers apparently wrote a letter to Putin. In it they describe threats they receive from their superiors if they cannot carry out an assignment, as they write.

“You will be reported for desertion, you will have problems with the commander’s office and the military police, we will divide you into groups of two and send you on an offensive from which you will not return,” quoted “Novaya Gazeta Europe” . from the letter. The Russians also write that the separatist evacuation groups only remove their own fighters and slightly injured soldiers from the battlefield.

The governor of her home region of Irkutsk has since responded to the reports. The soldiers would soon be moved to a new location.
