Is the crypto queen hiding in a penthouse in London?

She is highly intelligent and damn smart. She is currently the most wanted woman in the world. Ruja Ignatova (42) has been on the run for years – with about 500 million euros! After her fraud company “OneCoin” was exposed, she fled – and her victims were left with the charges. Many had hoped that the new digital currency would make them rich. Similar to the Bitcoin currency. The native Bulgarian, who has German nationality, hailed the project as a “bitcoin killer”, meaning it would have to compete with the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Many fell for Ignatova and got ripped off.

It is unclear where the 42-year-old is. Just as much: the last number leads to London, as reported by “Bild”. She would have bought a penthouse for 14 million.

As British journalist Jamie Bartlett of the “Bild” says, Ignatova acquired the house in 2016 – secretly through an investment company. “Ruja has now been listed as an owner since January due to a change in the law,” said Bartlett, who also wrote a book about Ruja Ignatova called The Missing Cryptoqueen. However, the background is unclear.

“She has worldwide supporters and contacts”

After her fraud came to light, she fled to Athens in 2017. Investors had invested about four billion euros in their made-up currency and their company. Police said at the time: “They have global supporters and contacts. You also need to have significant financial resources.”

Athens, London and beyond, the trail of the wrong crypto queen is lost. And the rumor mill is spinning about where she might be hiding. Some suspect that she is no longer alive. Among them the Bulgarian journalist Atanas Tchobanov (55). A document has been leaked to him that is supposed to prove a contract killing. According to this, someone allegedly killed the crypto scammer on a yacht in Greece in 2018, chopped it up and threw it into the sea. Client: a former business partner.

$100,000 for tips

However, the FBI believes Ignatova is alive and puts her on the “Most Wanted” list. Last year, US officials offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to her arrest.

In Germany, the lawyer, who has a PhD, is being investigated for money laundering and joint fraud in a particularly serious case. In May, a public manhunt was also shown on the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY … unsolved”. (TVA/AFP)
