The president’s message is clear: The United States will continue to support Ukraine, Poland, and NATO in the face of Russian aggression.

A day after his stormy visit to Kiev, Joe Biden took to the podium in Warsaw to reinforce the idea that the US will continue to support Ukraine “as long as it takes”. In front of the stage where Biden spoke, in the gardens of the former royal castle in Warsaw, a small number of people waved Polish and American flags.

With his speech in Poland, the President of the United States put the icing on the cake of a three-act strategy that began with the intervention of Vice President Kamala Harris at the Munich Security Conference, continued with Biden’s visit to Kiev and ended this Tuesday. with the President’s speech in Warsaw. In all three cases, the message was clear: The United States will continue to support Ukraine, Poland, and NATO in the face of Russian aggression.

Biden’s speech came just hours after Vladimir Putin’s speech, and the harangue against the Kremlin chief was sharp from the start. “The hunger of an autocrat cannot be satiated, it must be opposed. AND autocrats understand only one word: no, no, no. You will not take away my land, you will not take away my freedom, you will not take away my future!” cried Biden.

He later accused him of commit crimes on a large scale: “has committed depraved crimes against humanity, unscrupulously targeting civilians», used rape as a weapon of war, stole Ukrainian children and attacked civilian infrastructure vital to life. Despite everything, he emphasized, “Kyiv resists”. “Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. Never!” he said before promising that US support “will not falter”.

After denying that the West conspired to attack Russia, as Putin claims, the US president emphasized that the goals Russia has set for itself in this war are beyond the reach of the Kremlin. “Instead of the Finnishization of NATO, he achieved the NATOization of Finland and Sweden. Instead of instrumentalizing European energy dependence in order to abolish European support [a Ucrania]made us work together to end Europe’s dependence on Russian fossil fuels.” «Democracies, the world has become stronger, not weaker“, he condemned.

From the NATO headquarters in Brussels, the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, responded to part of Biden’s message. “No one is attacking Russia. Russia is the aggressor, Ukraine is the victim of aggression“, he said a few hours before Biden’s intervention in Poland. For this reason, according to the Norwegian, NATO must continue to support Ukraine “we need to accelerate our support, because it will be a tragedy for the Ukrainians, but also dangerous for all of us if Putin wins in Ukraine”.
