Prince Andrew did not receive a public greeting from the palace on his 63rd birthday. On the official Twitter account of the royal family, which is usually used to congratulate members of the royal family, it was silent on Sunday afternoon about the brother of King Charles III. The palace and the government had already distanced themselves last year.

The Sun tabloid reported on Sunday that Andrew could soon lose his royal residence in the grounds of Windsor Castle. Charles wants to cut his brother’s annual allowance of £249,000 from April. This left Andrew without money for the expensive maintenance of the Royal Lodge, where he lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Then he would be left with nothing but his pension from his time in the Royal Navy.

“It feels like his brother wants to evict him,” the newspaper quotes a source as saying. Several media had previously reported that Andrew was no longer allowed to study at Buckingham Palace.

Andrew hardly plays a role in public anymore because of his involvement in an abuse scandal. A year ago, he agreed to a settlement with an American woman who accused him of repeatedly sexually assaulting her as a minor, avoiding a reputational civil suit in the United States.
