US Secretary of State Blinken travels to Turkey after earthquake Prigozhin tries to make name with “troll farm” confession – what’s behind it

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also visit Turkey as part of his trip to Europe. The US State Department said on Wednesday it plans to visit NATO’s Incirlik Air Base to inspect relief efforts following the massive earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Afterwards, Blinken travels to Ankara to meet his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

The US has pledged $85 million (almost €80 million) for earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria. The State Department said there were nearly 200 rescue workers and 12 search dogs from the United States in the earthquake zone. Aid will be handled through Incirlik Air Force Base.

Last week several strong earthquakes rocked the border area between Turkey and Syria. So far, tens of thousands of people have been killed by the quakes in the region. (sda/dpa)
