On the day of love, three photos of the graffiti were published on the Instagram account of the Briton – this is how he usually announces his authorship.

The motif, spray-painted on a house wall, shows a 1950s-style woman with an apron and yellow gloves, a black eye and a missing tooth – and apparently she just pushed her partner into a freezer. Two legs painted on the wall protrude from the real coffin in front of the wall. Other real garbage is also in front of the wall, including a broken chair and a broken beer bottle.

Two close-ups focus on the woman’s battered but smiling face. The mysterious artist called the work “Valentine’s Day Mascara”. Within a short time, more than 450,000 users had liked the entry. “I’m glad she got rid of him,” said one account. The exact location of the work was initially unknown, but it was assumed on social media that it was made in Margate in the southeastern English county of Kent.
