It was never his plan to undress in front of a camera, kiss a different man every time, share the bed with him – and make a living that way.

But that’s exactly how it happened for 22-year-old Louis Mast from Berlin. On a roundabout. He now makes a living from the videos he posts on OnlyFans – which is often referred to as the porn Instagram.

The “Angelic Boy”, as he calls himself on the platform, seduces men online full time. A business model that is not for everyone. The young Berliner wants to destigmatize his work. “I don’t think this will spoil my future,” Louis Mast told Watson. But he used to see things differently.

“Sex Sells”

When Mast was 18 and graduated from high school in Berlin, he had other career aspirations. At that time, he wanted to study social media and digital marketing. He also had the prospect of an internship at an agency. He also worked at the fast food chain Subway.

As a trendy, youthful Berliner, he was early represented on the TikTok video platform. There he indulged his passions: “In the beginning I just filmed everyday things that I liked,” says Mast. His videos mainly revolved around his clothing style, body and hair care routine and male makeup. “The most viewed video was almost seven million views,” says the 22-year-old.

At that time you could easily achieve a large reach on TikTok, especially with revealing videos or so-called Thirst Traps. Videos intended to sexually entice viewers. Mast quickly understood: “Sex sells.”

Although he soon had a few hundred thousand followers, Mast did not want to start a career as an influencer: “I didn’t think about it at the time because I was completely busy with my graduation and myself.” In his senior year of school, he came out as gay. And shortly after that he met his first boyfriend.

He was still dating him a year later when Mast realized his nude photos had been leaked online. “Suddenly some guys on Instagram reported to me that I wrote them on Tinder or something,” he recalls. Even a friend from London told him that his pictures were being sent around. At the time, the young Berliner was shocked and did not know what to do. “I cried because I felt so uncomfortable. I even went to the police to ask what to do,” says Mast.

Unfortunately, as the photos were already widely distributed, the police’s options were limited. “My friend then joked that if the photos were already leaked, I could still make money from them,” he says. Because OnlyFans was getting more and more popular back then.

Without further ado, they followed their words with deeds and both created an account on the platform in mid-2020. Mast’s employer – the marketing agency where he did his internship – knew nothing. “I thought as long as I only upload pictures in my underwear it shouldn’t be a problem,” he says.

Already in the first hours after his registration he had earned more than 700 euros. A good amount for the German in the beginning. “I did it like this for a good year until I started my studies in the fall of 2021,” he says. He was making good money back then, but he wasn’t making much money. Although he rarely put anything online, about 200 subscribers remained loyal to him – they paid a few euros a month.

But he didn’t really get off to a good start with OnlyFans because he didn’t post enough. Especially now that his studies were playing tricks on him and his relationship with his friend, who was also active on the platform, was on the rocks. “But that had nothing to do with work,” says Mast. At the end of the year his health also deteriorated and in January 2022 he decided to stop his studies. “I developed severe psoriasis and had to go to the hospital for a long time and then to therapy,” says Mast.

During this time, he thought a lot about his future and what dreams he had. He wanted to travel more. And work anywhere. Just be free. But for that he had to go all in and bet everything on one card. «In the summer I decided to release my first sex tape on OnlyFans. It used to be too private for me. But I realized that I was imagining most of the problems and too often thought I was going to be judged,” he says. And he noticed that his subscribers would no longer be satisfied with underwear pictures.

His new strategy worked. “Within a few weeks I had about 1,000 paying subscribers again,” says Mast. It was worth it financially: “I earn between 10,000 and 20,000 francs in good months.” For some that is a lot of money, but he knows other gay OnlyFans actors who earn up to 200,000 francs a month. “As a man you can live better in the porn world if you make gay videos than straight,” he says.

Save 100,000 euros

But for a 22-year-old who has a student apartment in Berlin, life is good with its earnings. Since he is self-employed with his company, a large part of it is gone.

The OnlyFans platform takes 20 percent of the revenue itself, about 40 percent it puts aside for taxes and emergencies. The rent costs him almost 700 euros, the health insurer 1000 euros and other fixed costs 1000 euros. “In the beginning I spent the rest directly on leisure, travel and clothing,” says Mast. He has now developed a savings and investment system. The OnlyFans actor would like to save and invest between 50,000 and 100,000 euros per year, so that he is sure of the future.

He does not know how long he will be active on the platform. There is no age limit. “There’s no too old, too fat, or too ugly on OnlyFans — you can always find an audience,” he says. However, some artists did a lot of faking to get more attention. “There are many who digitally enlarge their penises or photoshop their faces almost beyond recognition,” says Mast. He never did because he also wanted to show himself authentically. “And as a person,” he says.

“I get unsolicited nude photos and inappropriate messages on all social channels.” Mast suffers from this, because if someone wants to send him nude photos, he can do so in the chat function on OnlyFans and not on his private channels such as Instagram or TikTok.

He doesn’t do OnlyFans to receive private nudes from strangers. “I do it for a living,” he says. He would like to be seen more as a person and not just as a sex object. It was never his plan to undress in front of a camera and be harassed by strangers for it.
