Are there aliens behind flying objects? US general does not rule out British criminal arrested in Thailand after long escape

With the US military shooting down several mysterious flying objects, speculation is rampant about what is happening over the North American skies. There is already speculation on social media about a possible alien invasion.

When asked by a reporter whether the US Department of Defense could rule out extraterrestrials being behind the ominous missiles, US Northern Command commander Glen VanHerck replied Sunday night (local time): “I’ll leave it to the secret services and counterintelligence to find out. I’m not ruling anything out at this point.” The question is whether the ruling is suitable for curbing speculation.

The general, who also heads the North American air defense command, Norad, which recently detected and eliminated flying objects, said his job was to defend the country. When asked if more kills were to be expected, he said: “Anything approaching North America, if it’s unknown, I’ll identify – and assess if it’s a threat. If it’s a threat, I’ll shoot it down .” Norad is not currently tracking any other objects. “That doesn’t mean there won’t be more at some point in the future, but we don’t see anything at the moment.”

The US military had previously shot down a flying object for the fourth time in a few days. The latest incident happened Sunday over Lake Huron, Michigan. American fighter jets had already shot down two unidentified flying objects on Friday and Saturday: one off the coast of Alaska, the other over northern Canada. So far it is unclear what kind of objects they were, where they came from and what their purpose was. The disposal of debris should provide background information.

A week earlier, the US Air Force had downed a Chinese balloon suspected of espionage off the coast of South Carolina. It was initially unclear whether there could be a connection between the incidents. (sda/dpa)
