Investigators have found another classified government document while searching the home of former US Vice President Mike Pence. The search lasted five hours on Friday, Fox News quoted Pence adviser Devin O’Malley. A document marked as classified information was secured. In addition, six other pages were found without such a mark. Pence and his team previously cooperated fully with relevant authorities and agreed to a consensual search of the Indiana estate, O’Malley said.
It has been known since the end of January that secret files from his previous term of office have been found in the house of the 63-year-old. It was said that a lawyer discovered the documents. They were subsequently arrested by the federal police. Pence later said, “While I didn’t know this classified information was in our private home, let me be clear: This classified information was not supposed to be there.” The search now being conducted by FBI detectives from the Federal Police was expected.
Documents with confidential markings from his time as vice president have also appeared in President Joe Biden’s private rooms in recent weeks. Findings from former President Donald Trump already caused a stir in the summer. Pence was Trump’s runner-up from 2017 to 2021. He is expected to run for the Republican nomination for president.
