It is now more than three days since the first violent earthquake wreaked havoc in Turkey and Syria. The salvage work still continues and the number of casualties continues to rise with them. On Thursday afternoon it was reported that at least 19,000 people died in the accident.
But while countless bodies can only be pulled dead from the rubble during rescue efforts, there are always moments of joy for the numerous helpers on the scene. Even after more than three days, it is still possible to free survivors. After several hours without food, water or assurance of survival, they are withdrawn into the wild. This sense of achievement is celebrated accordingly – a round-up of 9 videos that are particularly impressive.
Emergency services rescue a two-month-old baby from the rubble. The relief is great: one of the helpers gives him a kiss on the head when he sees that the child is still alive.
