A man sentenced to death for four murders was executed in Missouri on Tuesday. The 58-year-old was killed in Potosi prison by lethal injection, judicial authorities said. Leonard Taylor was found guilty in 2008 of murdering his girlfriend and their three children, ages five to ten.
The public prosecutor had stated, among other things, that Taylor had confessed to his brother’s crime. The suspect, on the other hand, had always protested his innocence and, even after his conviction, made several attempts to have the trial resumed.
He was supported by the Innocence Project, which fights against wrongful convictions in the US judiciary. According to this statement, the brother was forced and later retracted his statements.
It was the fifth execution in the United States this year.
