But even if the house sells at a hefty discount, Dre can still expect an impressive profit. He bought the property in 2000 for about $4.8 million; in the 22 years since, real estate prices in Malibu have skyrocketed.

The house has floor to ceiling windows, a large courtyard, garages, foyer, larger living rooms with stone fireplaces, sliding glass doors to a beachfront balcony, spacious kitchen, carpeted bedroom (again with fireplace) with sitting area and private balcony, another bedroom with sauna, an executive office, a recording studio, a huge gym and five guest rooms.

It’s not the first time Dre has tried to sell this property. Ten years ago, the property was briefly up for sale, with asking prices ranging from $11 million to $12.5 million. But no sale took place. Most recently it was used as a primary residence by his ex-wife Nicole Young.

In December 2021, Dre and Young agreed to a divorce settlement. He would have paid her a $100 million lump sum but kept all the homes he bought during his marriage — including the Malibu mansion pictured here, two mansions in Calabasas in the San Fernando Valley, and a $40 million estate in Brentwood in West Los Angeles, which he bought from Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen. The latter must remain his place of residence.

The rapper recently sold one of Calabasas’ mansions (just days after closing a deal that saw him sell a bundle of music income and assets to Universal Music and Shamrock Holdings for a total of $200 million). This chic property in the San Fernando Valley went for 6 million – more than 1 million more than the purchase price from 2018:
