The French Premiere Dame Brigitte Macron would like to keep her diary entries secret. She writes a few sentences every night, she said in an interview published Thursday with the newspaper “Le Parisien”.
“But I hasten to tear it up because there is information in it.” I’m afraid someone will read it. A reader asked the 69-year-old if her husband, head of state Emmanuel Macron, had read what she confided in her diary. “Never,” the president’s wife revealed with a laugh. “I just don’t want anyone to find it. I don’t destroy everything, but I do destroy a lot. It’s laid out like a puzzle, so you won’t find it.”
Brigitte Macron also gave insight into the couple’s eating habits. For breakfast she prepares two oranges and a lemon for her husband (45). “He whines about it every morning, but I’ll give him a kiwi too.” She loves to cook and often opts for simple and quick recipes.
Will her husband also make the food? “Let’s say when the president cooks, it’s more intellectual. That always makes it a complicated dish.”
When the couple celebrated New Year’s Eve in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage in northern France, her husband usually cooked on December 31. “Then it takes him an infinitely long time to go shopping, because he talks to all the shopkeepers. And then he comes home with a lot of things that are not necessary,” said Brigitte Macron. “And then there is chaos in the kitchen. But his dishes are very extensive.”
A reader wanted to know if the food was good: “It’s very expensive,” the president’s wife replied with a laugh. Brigitte Macron did not say when the two last spent New Year’s Eve in the coastal town. (aeg/sda/dpa)
