Power outage in parts of Germany. A woman (40) climbed into a power pole on Wednesday morning, endangering her life. For safety reasons, the electricity had to be cut off. The Freital, Tharandt and parts of Dresden were affected, as reported by “Bild”. Suddenly nothing worked in the local steel mill either. The loss of production is enormous, writes the German medium.
A large contingent of emergency services left around 10:50 am. They tried again and again to contact the woman 20 meters above the ground – without success for a long time. Around 12.15 p.m. the first households could be supplied with power again. More hours passed before the woman climbed down from the electricity pylon. At 4.30 pm it was time. It is unclear what prompted her to take the dangerous action. Police spokesman Marko Laske: “The woman was hypothermic. She is currently receiving medical care.”
According to the report, it wasn’t her first time climbing a power pylon. In 2019 she did exactly the same and also caused a power outage at the time. At that time the electricity was back on in the afternoon. About 16,000 households were affected. (lrc)
