But now what really counts: the prices. The winners in a total of 27 film and television categories were announced by the Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in Beverly Hills. Numerous celebrities attended the ceremony in person. You can read who has won the 80th Globe Award in the following overview:
Steven Spielberg’s latest work wins the award for best drama film. With the autobiographical film “The Fabelmans”, Spielberg’s team triumphed against James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water”, “Elvis”, “Tár” and “Top Gun: Maverick”.

Spielberg also takes the trophy for best director. The 76-year-old triumphs for the third time at the Golden Globes. In «The Fabelmans», the filmmaker looks back on his childhood and the life of his parents. He previously won the director’s trophy for Saving Private Ryan (1999) and Schindler’s List (1994). For a long time he did not dare to tell such a personal story, Spielberg said on stage about his autobiographical film. It’s not easy being a kid. Everyone would see him as a success story, but no one knows who he really is.
In addition to Spielberg, James Cameron (“Avatar: The Way of Water”), Baz Luhrmann (“Elvis”), Martin McDonagh (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert were nominated for “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
“The Banshees of Inisherin” won the Best Comedy Award. The film beat Babylon, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Triangle of Sadness. The film, starring Irish actor Colin Farrell, impresses with its black humour. It was produced by Martin McDonagh.

Californian Austin Butler won the award for best drama actor. He won the award for his starring role as “Elvis” in the Baz Luhrmann biopic. The 31-year-old was joined by Brendan Fraser (“The Whale”), Hugh Jackman (“The Son”) and Bill Nighy (“Living”).
He was speechless, said the ‘Elvis’ actor after his first Globe win. He stands here for his heroes. He thanked colleagues such as Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks for their support.
Cate Blanchett (53) has won the Golden Globe for best actress in a drama. She won the award for her leading role in the movie “Tár”. The native Australian included Viola Davis (“The Woman King”), Ana de Armas (“Blonde”) and Michelle Williams (“The Fabelmans”) in the running for the 80th Globe Awards.
Blanchett did not personally accept the Globe. According to the organizers, she was unable to travel due to shooting. She had previously won two Globes for Best Actress in a Leading Dramatic Drama – for “Blue Jasmine” (2014) and “Elizabeth” (1999).
The award for Best Supporting Actor goes to the United States. Originally from Vietnam but raised in the US, Ke Huy Quan won over critics with his role in the sci-fi comedy “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. He triumphed against Brendan Gleeson (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Brad Pitt (“Babylon”), among others.
Ke Huy Quan said in his acceptance speech that he was so happy to see director Steven Spielberg here in the room. He recalled being discovered as a child in Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). His role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” is now making a comeback after a long hiatus from acting.
The best supporting actress also comes from the US: Angela Bassett. The 64-year-old convinced with her role in the Marvel hit “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Along with her, Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and Carey Mulligan (“She Said”), among others, were nominated. Bassett recalled her first appearance on the Globe stage in 1994. At the time, she won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for “Tina – What’s Love Got to Do with It?” opposite.
Colin Farrell was also allowed to celebrate on an individual level. The Irish actor convinced with his role in the tragic comedy “The Banshees of Inisherin” about the broken male friendship of director Martin McDonagh. With Farrell, Mexican Diego Calva (“Babylon”) and Briton Daniel Craig (“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”) were nominated.
Michelle Yeoh was honored as the Best Comedy Actress. The 60-year-old Malaysian-born actress made her name with her role in the sci-fi comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once. At the 80th Globe Awards, she triumphed against Australia’s Margot Robbie (“Babylon”) and Britain’s Emma Thompson (“Good Luck to You, Leo Grande”). Her arrival in Hollwood was a dream come true, Yeoh said in her acceptance speech. It was an “amazing journey” and an “incredible fight”.

The “Game of Thrones” offshoot wins the award for best drama series.
Zendaya won Best Actress in Drama for her performance in the youth series Euphoria.
Kevin Costner won the award for best drama actor in the neo-western “Yellowstone”.
The “Abbott Elementary” series about a Philadelphia elementary school won big at the TV awards. In addition to the award for best comedy, the series also won the award for best actress and best actor in a comedy category.
As announced, Quinta Brunson is the Best TV Comedy Actress.
Jeremy Allen White was recognized for his portrayal of a young chef in The Bear.
“White Lotus”, a bitter satire about spoiled super-rich on luxury vacations, was awarded best mini-series.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a brief guest appearance at the Golden Globes. He thanked for his country’s support in the war against Russia. “You were the best of the past year,” Zelenskyj told the assembled Hollywood celebrities in a video message about the togetherness his country had experienced.
