Syria reports Israeli air strike on Damascus airport North Korea: Kim wants to “exponentially increase” number of nuclear warheads

Syria has announced the shelling of Damascus airport by the Israeli air force. According to the Syrian state news agency Sana, two Syrian soldiers were killed in the attack on Monday night.

The airport was initially out of use due to the attack, the Sana news agency reports.

According to this, the attack took place around 02:00 local time (00:00 CET). “The Israeli enemy carried out an airstrike with a barrage of missiles that hit Damascus International Airport and the surrounding area,” Sana said. Two Syrian soldiers were killed and two others injured.

Since the start of the war in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in the neighboring country. The attacks target positions of the Syrian army, pro-Iranian forces and Islamist Hezbollah, which is an ally of Iran.

Rarely does Israel comment specifically on the attacks. However, Israel has repeatedly stressed that it will not allow Iran to extend its influence beyond Israel’s borders. (sda/afp)
