The New York prosecutor’s office is investigating a future US congressman for allegedly providing false information in his resume. “Numerous forgeries and inconsistencies” have been linked to Republican George Santos, Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly said Wednesday (local time).
The investigation followed a report in the “New York Times” newspaper, which got to the bottom of the 34-year-old’s resume. Accordingly, Santos claimed to have been an “experienced Wall Street investor”. However, when asked by the New York Times, alleged employers said Santos had never been employed by them. The newspaper was also unable to verify his university degree. Santos has also been accused of misleading the public about his family history and alleged Jewish background.
In an interview with the New York Post, the Republican admitted that he had “beautified” his resume. He’s sorry. “I admit it… We do stupid things in life.” Santos was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in last November’s congressional elections and plans to take office next week when the new House of Congress meets for the first time.
