Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov (72) assumes that the United States is planning an attack on the Kremlin boss. Speaking to Russia’s Tass news agency, Lavrov made unspecified statements from “anonymous” Pentagon officials.
According to Lavrov, Washington is taking the confrontation with Russia to the extreme: “There, some ‘unnamed officials’ of the Pentagon actually threatened to deliver a ‘beheading blow’ to the Kremlin,” said the Russian chief diplomat. “In fact, we are talking about the threat of the physical elimination of the Russian head of state.”
Lavrov warned to “think about the possible consequences of such plans” if Russia’s head of state Vladimir Putin, 70, was eliminated. Neither the Pentagon nor Washington have publicly stated their intention to pursue regime change in Moscow. (kes)
