14 years in prison for ICE mesman

The verdict has been passed: the knife attacker (28) from Syria must go to prison for 14 years. About a year ago, he attacked four men with a knife on an ICE train traveling from Munich to Nuremberg. They were badly injured. His defense asked for an acquittal.

The federal prosecutor had demanded life imprisonment for the Syrian-born man. The defense, on the other hand, had pleaded acquittal on the grounds of innocence and demanded compensation from their client. According to the defense lawyers, A. made the attack delusional due to paranoid schizophrenia.

The presiding judge said the issue of criminal responsibility was the most important issue in the proceedings. The court heard a total of seven psychiatric experts during the taking of evidence. This allowed the room to rule out paranoid schizophrenia, in fact he was controllable. (AFP)
