Capitol Panel Witness: Trump Team Pressurized A Real Coup: That’s Why Zelensky’s Visit To Washington Is So Important

A witness before the US Capitol Storming Committee blamed ex-President Trump’s team. It put pressure on her before she testified.

A former White House staffer has accused those close to former US President Donald Trump of pressuring her before testifying before the commission of inquiry into the attack on the Capitol.

The panel released the final report of its investigation and transcripts of Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony to the committee on Thursday (local time). Transcripts of her behind-closed-door statements show that Trump’s team allegedly attempted to influence her.

Hutchinson had appeared as a spectacular surprise witness at a panel public hearing last summer. In the summer, she stated publicly, among other things, that Trump was aware of possible violence on January 6, 2021 in advance. She also described the events of that day in the White House. Trump denied the allegations and publicly insulted Hutchinson. Her testimony was one of the most sensational testimonies at the public hearings.

“The less you remember, the better”

According to now-published transcripts, Hutchinson told the committee in September that Trump’s entourage offered her jobs and financial support — including for high legal fees. At the same time, she was urged to downplay her role in the White House and remain loyal.

“The less you remember, the better,” a Trump confidante reportedly told her. Hutchinson worked for then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. “You’re going to ruin my life, mom, if I do something you don’t want,” Hutchinson said, according to the transcript, according to her mother.

Final report on Capitol Storm released

The US House of Representatives committee has been investigating the events surrounding the attack on the Capitol for more than a year and a half. The commission released its final report shortly before Christmas. At its final public hearing on Monday, the panel recommended that former US President Donald Trump be prosecuted on four counts.

In the 845-page report, the committee now emphasizes its recommendation: “The Special Committee estimates that President Trump or his close circle took at least 200 obvious public or private actions, leveraged, in the two months between the November and November elections. the January 6 elections. committed insurrection or issued convictions directed to the state legislature or to state or local election officials to overturn the state’s election results.”

In the paper, US Democrat Nancy Pelosi thanked Republicans on the committee, among others, describing the efforts and the resulting report as a “roadmap for justice.”

On January 6, 2021, Trump supporters stormed the seat of the US Congress, where the Republican’s election defeat to Joe Biden was to be ratified. A mob incited by Trump violently entered the building, killing five people. The commission had been investigating the incident for the past 18 months. The panel staged the public hearings as a TV spectacle that many people watched.
