A Republican representative in the US House of Representatives is said to have forged large parts of his resume. A report in the New York Times suggests that George Santos, who won the Long Island constituency for his party and thus contributed to the majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives, has gone through many stages of his career.

As the paper reports, several companies Santos claims to have worked for have never wanted to hire him. Specifically, it concerns the Wall Street investment houses Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. Both companies told the paper that there is no record of Santos ever being employed by them.

Baruch College, where Santos reportedly graduated in 2010, also told the New York Times it had no documents on the 34-year-old. His animal welfare charity called “Friends of Pets United” is therefore not allowed to be officially registered.
