Traces of hard drugs have been found in British government buildings. The Guardian’s report is based on insider sources. Last summer, white powder was discovered on the Chevening estate used by the British Foreign Secretary. It is believed to have been cocaine. Allies of then Secretary of State Liz Truss (47) are said to have celebrated two weekends there. The festivities took place shortly before Truss was crowned Prime Minister.
Similar substances were also said to have been found in Downing Street after lockdown parties, as other insiders reported. However, neither former Prime Minister Boris Johnson (58), who was still in power at the time, nor Truss himself knew about the drugs or even used them. Possession of cocaine is a criminal offense punishable by up to seven years in prison or an unlimited fine.
A spokeswoman for Truss dismissed the allegations as “untrue”. Both Truss and Johnson said they had never heard of such finds. The banned parties on Downing Street during the Corona lockdown had played a major role in the fall of former Prime Minister Johnson. Liz Truss, on the other hand, had to resign after just a few weeks because of the disastrous consequences of her economic policies. Both had announced a tougher course against hard drugs.
