A worker killed his colleague on Monday off the coast of Qatar on the Seafox Burj oil platform. Apparently there had been a fight in the common hut beforehand. According to ‘The Sun’, the perpetrator is British Scott F.* (43). The victim is said to be a man from Great Britain.
According to the initial findings, F. grabbed an oxygen bottle and struck. He then tried to flee the oil platform with a helicopter. To hide the body, he had wrapped the lifeless body in a sheet and put it in the cabin’s bathroom.
When he was surprised by another colleague, he allegedly assaulted him. Other employees heard the screams for help and immediately rushed to the cabin. F. then tried to flee, but was caught.
“What the hell was going on?”
The exact conditions are now being determined. Alcohol is banned on oil platforms, especially in strictly Muslim Qatar, so the attack would not have been alcohol-related.
Police and rescue workers were taken to the platform by helicopter. Former colleagues are shocked by what F. allegedly did. “He was decent and funny. What the hell was going on?” a colleague told the “Sun”.
According to a worker on such an oil rig, the men would live and work close to each other. “If there’s a little disagreement and you’re stuck there for weeks, it can be like a pressure cooker.” The salary is very good, but the conditions are tough.
