Executions in Iran: German politicians accept sponsorship – first partial success US wants to massively expand economic cooperation with Africa

The regime in Iran has already executed two protesters. After Mohsen Shekari, Majidresa Rahnaward was publicly hanged on Monday. The crime of the two men: they took part in the protests that have shaken the country since the death of the young Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini.

The dreaded execution campaign of the mullah regime has indeed begun. And there are several other people on the execution lists. German MPs take on political sponsorship for those at risk. And stand up for them.

Now even with a first partial success.

Because the Iranian regime is said to have lifted the death sentence against the protester Mahan Sedarat. Lukas Benner and Mary Blumenthal, politicians for the Greens, had accepted a political sponsorship for the 23-year-old. And stood up for the young man. Apparently successful for now. “The death sentence against Mahan Sedarat has been reversed,” Benner wrote on Twitter.

Threatened with the death penalty for many protesters

Journalist Gilda Sahebi shares the message but also comments on it saying, “The danger to Mahan Sedarat and many others is not forbidden, but every step is important.” Besides Sedarat, there are other people on the execution lists. The collective Woman*life freedom writes on Twitter about a total of ten people whose death is near. Including the brothers Farzad and Farhad Tahazadeh.

They too now have a sponsor who supports them: the German social democrat Hakan Demir. He shares a video on Twitter calling on Iranian leaders to stop the executions. He also wrote to the Iranian ambassador to Germany.
