Lufthansa boss shows interest in Ita Airways Attack trial in Nice ends with long prison sentences and applause

According to CEO Carsten Spohr, Lufthansa is still very interested in the acquisition of the Italian airline Ita Airways.

It is “no secret that Italy is one of the most important markets for us and that we already fly more people from the US to Italy than to Germany,” Spohr told the weekly magazine “Die Zeit”, adding: “Italy is economically strong and attractive holiday destination.”

The successor to the traditional company Alitalia is for sale; the Italian Ministry of Finance, as the current owner, has been negotiating intensively with Lufthansa for several weeks. An acquisition “would open new perspectives in aviation not only for Lufthansa, but also for Ita and the country of Italy,” Spohr said. According to reports, one of the main issues in the negotiations is how many shares of Ita to sell at what price and how much influence the government will retain in Rome.
