Commissioner Adam Kinzinger confirmed Sunday, December 21, as the date on US television. He did not say whether the commission would recommend the US Justice Department take criminal action against those involved. However, Kinzinger emphasized that such a recommendation would be of great symbolic importance. According to media reports, the committee wanted to discuss this on Sunday.
The commission is investigating how supporters of former US President Donald Trump stormed the seat of the US Congress on January 6, 2021, in which Trump’s election defeat would be endorsed by Joe Biden.
