In Vienna, the horses ran away from a carriage on Saturday. While attempting to get out of the danger zone, two passers-by fell, injuring a 58-year-old woman. Four horses were also slightly injured, the police reported on Sunday.
The incident in the Austrian capital took place at 11:30 am in the city center. A Fiaker driver tore part of the harness, rendering his vehicle uncontrollable.
The Fiaker crashed into a parked coach at Stephansplatz. The horses harnessed there frightened the team. These horses then took off without a driver and the Fiacre collided with a car. A brave passerby finally managed to grab the reins of the horses and bring them to a halt.
The horses of the 49-year-old Fiaker driver were slightly injured, as were the two animals that ran off. There was material damage to the carriages and the car. The torn armor was fixed. (sda/apa)
