This boss pays the electricity bill for his 70 employees

Marc Wenz, owner of the Allgäu Outlet and Alpsee Outlet in Allgäu, Bavaria, had a big surprise for his employees, which he announced at the Christmas party. Because things were so positive this year, he decided to take on the whole year’s electricity bill for all his 70 employees. This news was celebrated with confetti cannons, RTL reports. One employee says: “Everyone was cheering, shouting, laughing, some crying.”

The two sites have achieved record profits this year. “So, after this successful year, I decided to say that we would take over the entire electricity costs privately from each employee and hopefully also a concern from these people,” Marc Wenz told the German TV channel.

The employees are allowed to present their annual accounts to their boss and the money is transferred net.

Employees must be relieved

But that wasn’t all. Marc Wenz also decided to close the two branches for three weeks. The employees must have sufficient time for the inventory and do not have to work overtime or night shifts.

“Everyone has had enough stress this year, so I want my employees to end the year in a relaxed way,” explains Marc Wenz. Another positive aspect is that energy can be saved in this way, as no escalators, cash register systems or heating installations need to be running.

The electricity crisis is a financial burden for many people. Due to the war in Ukraine, gas and electricity prices have risen to record highs in recent months. (lrc)
