Trump must defend against these Republicans until 2024 Trump is a candidate again: these are the reasons for his comeback

On Wednesday evening, Donald Trump announced that he would run for president again in 2024. But not everyone in the Republican party is happy about it — Trump has been criticized for his involvement in causing the “red wave” to fail during the November midterms.

So far, aside from a senator from Montana and Trump, no one known has officially run for office. Several Republicans have already expressed interest in running for office. Among them, there are five that, according to the US media, could make Trump’s candidate seat controversial:

Ron DeSantis, Florida

For Republicans, Florida’s governor is the man of the hour. His landslide victory by a 20 percent margin in the midterms made the already popular DeSantis even more popular in the party. The best chances of the candidacy are predicted for him; at the betting shops, he is already considered the next president. (It should be said again at this point that bets and surveys are not representative.)

DeSantis is often compared to Trump in his politics, but he is more serious and less callous. In 2021, he banned the teaching of “Critical Race Theory” in Florida schools, and in 2022, he sent a planeload of immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, an island in Massachusetts.

Mike Pence, Indiana

The former vice president is walking on a tightrope. In his new book, he describes Trump’s actions on January 6 as “reckless” and endangering the lives of everyone in the Capitol. In this way, Pence hopes to become more popular with the ‘classical’ republics.

At the same time, he constantly praises Trump’s achievements. Because Pence knows he also needs votes from the Trump camp to become a Republican nominee. However, that should prove difficult as they have not forgiven him for his “betrayal” in January.

Glenn Youngkin, Virginia

The Republican from Virginia was elected governor in 2021 with a large majority. He spoke out against COVID vaccination but supported the national vaccination program. His program includes tax breaks and conservative school reform. In April 2022, for example, he ordered parents to have a say in whether their children are allowed to read books with ‘sexual content’ at school.

Nikki Haley, South Carolina

The politician with Indian roots is known to most as an ambassador to the United Nations. She previously served as governor of South Carolina until 2017. She speaks out against abortions and “Obamacare”.

Tim Scott, South Carolina

Senator Tim Scott is also from South Carolina. He was re-elected by a huge margin in November. Scott opposes gay marriage and illegal immigration, but supports the continuation of the mission in Afghanistan. He is the first African-American Republican to serve in the United States Senate since 1979.
