Vladimir Putin’s troops (70) must withdraw from the Ukrainian city of Kherson. A debacle for the Kremlin chief – so great that an offer of surrender from the West would have reached him.
This reports Valeri Solowei, who taught at the Moscow Institute of International Relations. According to his own statements, he has contacts in the Kremlin. That reports the «Daily Mail».
This is what capitulation should look like
The offer of the Russian surrender stipulates that Russia will give up all previously conquered territories in Ukraine. It had come from western countries after consultation with Kiev. It comes after Putin’s forces were forced to withdraw from the city of Kherson after a humiliating defeat.
There should only be special rules for a few areas. The Crimean peninsula should therefore be declared a demilitarized zone at least until 2029. A demilitarized zone more than 60 kilometers wide must also be created along the Ukrainian border with Belarus and Russia.
Another condition is that Russia gives up its military presence in Transnistria. Ukraine also made concessions. In return, the offer included a guarantee that Ukraine would not join NATO for the next seven years. Accession by 2029 would therefore be out of the question.
That would happen to Putin
An arrangement had also been worked out for Putin personally. The Kremlin boss and his closest people should not be charged with war crimes. They even have to maintain their position of power.
Especially with the surrender offer: The Kremlin politicians around Putin were not averse. According to Solowei, they were positive about the offer.
Six countries were involved in the plans. These would have agreed to give security guarantees for the agreement. Solowei did not disclose which states these were.
It is unclear how Putin reacted
How Putin reacted is currently unclear. Solovey simply states: “If the president rejects these terms, which the Russian regime is willing to accept, military action will continue.”
However, stopping the bombardment should not be seen as capitulation. “It means that deliberations are continuing and efforts are being made to gain additional time to assess the situation.” (EU)
