Vladimir Putin’s troops have many problems. There is a lack of motivation, equipment and soldiers. The Kremlin boss has arranged for supplies with the partial mobilization. Apparently he already sent men to the front before that – and that shortly after the invasion of Ukraine. Among them even a student of just 18 years. In late February, Nikita was forcibly recruited for the war from the Russian-annexed Donetsk region, as reported by the Russian newspaper “Novaya Gazeta”.
As the mother told the newspaper, police officers suddenly showed up at her door during the school holidays. She was told that Nikita had to go to the recruitment office. “He just needs to do a young fighter course. It’s about knowing how to assemble and disassemble a machine gun,” the men said.
A day later, Nikita and his mother came to the recruitment office of the Donetsk region. There they were told that Nikita would only be away from home for “a few days”.
“Nobody can help me”
Even two weeks after the call, there was still no sign of Nikita. Finally, his mother found out: her son was sent to the Crimea and transferred to Kherson. Straight ahead. Without military training.
“Nikita got sick there, but no one could help him. The army has no medical department there,” the mother said. In addition, there is not always enough food. “Sometimes there was no food for days. A loaf of bread for four and that’s it.” In the spring the soldiers even drank melted snow because of the lack of water.
Nikita received his diploma at the front. “He does not have the opportunity to continue his studies at a university. He is alone in the front,” the mother continued. For the past few weeks, she has been trying to get her son out – without success. “Nobody can help me,” says the mother. “He’s never been home in all those months. That’s just sad.” (see)
