A massive earthquake hit Italy on Wednesday morning. As the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) confirmed to the “Kleine Zeitung”, the earthquake had its epicenter in the Ancona region. Destruction within a radius of 70 kilometers is expected.
The quakes hit the capital city of Rome, large parts of northern Italy and the coasts of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and parts of the eastern Alps, as “earthquake news” writes. In Carinthia, a supermarket was shaken so hard that countless wine bottles were thrown on the floor, according to Twitter. Destruction within a radius of 70 kilometers is expected.
On the Richter scale, the earthquake reached a value of 6.1 at the epicenter. It is not yet clear how many people were injured or died. (nab)
