Ex-President Donald Trump (76) has threatened Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (44) with unpleasant revelations if he would run for the White House in 2024.
He might say “things that aren’t particularly flattering” about DeSantis, Trump told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “I know more about him than anyone else — except maybe his wife.” He could “do a lot of harm” if he participated.
DeSantis is repeatedly referred to as “Trump with a brain” in the American media. As a result, the politician is much more dangerous than Trump and is disputing the 45th president’s place as the 47th president of the US.
Trump wants to make a big announcement
Trump announced a “very big announcement” on Monday, Nov. 15. It can be assumed that he wants to announce his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election, which has long been hinted at.
The 76-year-old remains popular among Republican voters. And the few Republican politicians who broke with him after his lies about presidential election fraud were banned by the party.
“Can be painful”
But in the country as a whole, Trump is so controversial that several Republicans like DeSantis or his ex-Vice President Mike Pence would challenge him with their own candidacy. 44-year-old DeSantis, who is also on the right, is considered a particularly strong rival.
“If he starts, it could be very painful for him,” Trump said of the Florida governor. “I think he would make a mistake. I don’t think it would be good for the party.” DeSantis was re-elected as governor on Tuesday. He was ahead in the polls. (SDA/euc)
