The tally of votes cast in the US midterm elections
could possibly take days – and it might not even be known until Januarywhich party will have the majority in the Senate in the future. Technical problems, a lack of polling station members and very tight decisions have in the past prevented a clear trend on election night. In some cases, the winner could not be announced until a significant delay.
The first polls in parts of Kentucky and Indiana will close at midnight German time on Wednesday night. At 1 a.m., the count begins in five states with elections for a U.S. senator post, including the likely particularly close decision in Georgia. At 2 a.m. GMT, the “270towin” page shows ten Senate decisions (including Pennsylvania), twelve governor decisions, and 161 House decisions. (sda)
