The new owner of the short-messaging service Twitter, Elon Musk, campaigned for the Republicans of ex-President Donald Trump before the important midterm elections in the US. “Shared power involves the worst excesses of both parties. So I recommend voting for a Republican Congress if the presidency is democratic,” the billionaire wrote on Twitter on Monday.
To independent voters:
Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, which is why I recommend voting in a Republican Congress, as the presidency is democratic.

Next Tuesday, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and about a third of the 100 seats in the Senate will be decided. US President Joe Biden’s Democrats risk losing their already narrow majority in parliament.
Musk had repeatedly made political statements in the past and expressed his solidarity with the Republican Party, which is still dominated by Trump. In May, he declared that the Democrats had become a “party of division and hatred”. He has also announced that he will investigate a complaint from the right-wing political spectrum that Twitter is being censored in the sense of the “left”. Twitter should not favor either side, he wrote. (sda/dpa)
