A Tanzanian airline Precision Air plane crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday morning. Initially, no deaths were reported. This information was later corrected. At least 19 people were killed in the crash on Sunday morning. Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa announced this in the afternoon. According to the Tanzanian aviation authority TCAA, the plane of the Tanzanian airline Precision Air was approaching the town of Bukoba on Lake Victoria at the time of the accident.

Heavy rain and thick fog made it difficult to land the plane, rescuers said on the scene. However, a detailed investigation into the cause of the crash is still pending. At least 26 of the 43 people on board were injured in the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital. The rescue operation was temporary. According to initial information, there were no deaths.

Lake Victoria is located in the border triangle of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The surface of the lake roughly corresponds to that of Bavaria.
