New Twitter boss Elon Musk (51) slams the dismissal hammer. There is a climate of fear among employees, according to news site Business Insider. First it hit the previous bosses and the board of directors. Who’s next?
Musk wants to see results. Today now! The deadlines are tight and can only be met with mammoth services. Anyone who disappoints the billionaire will be kicked out. That is why the work is currently continuing.
Internal email surfaced
The top managers are waving the whip: parts of the staff are said to have been ordered to work 12-hour shifts. There are hardly any days off. The new reality under Musk is 84-hour weeks. Some employees are said to have slept in the office on weekends. Including fear of being fired.
Programming projects had to be carried out. Among them would have been the change related to the blue verification hook. This has recently been paid for. An internal e-mail underlines the increased pressure to perform. Employees were asked to work “literally around the clock”. Twitter has not yet responded to this.
Whether this strategy pays off remains to be seen. One thing is clear: overtime is increasing rapidly. It is not yet clear what will happen to them. The names on Musk’s cross-off list are still unknown. Even before the $44 billion takeover of the Tesla boss, rumors of layoffs were circulating. (nab)
